Rejection is not only a word it’s a emotion that each and every individual had felt or will feel at-least once in his/her lifetime. At the time of rejection one feels an acute pain it’s just like a physical pain a pain like some body part got hurt and surprisingly it is not only a metaphor of showing the pain of rejection but a scientifically proven theory. So let us try to understand the Psychology of Rejection.
The theory states that different parts of the brain handles different functions of handling the physical pain like sensing the area of the pain, expressing the unpleasantness of the pain etc so when a person gets rejected the parts of the brain which expresses the unpleasantness of the physical pain i.e. Anterior Insula and Dorsal Anterior Cingulate Cortex gets activated thus a person experiences the pain of rejection like it is a physical pain.
Now let us talk about the theory of evolution in the context of pain of rejection. During the evolution we were dependent a lot on other people for our survival and due to this reason the nature evolved the pain of rejection as a threat to our survival and attached the feeling of physical pain to the pain of rejection so that we can act on it to survive.
Now the question arises why am I telling you the theory of pain of rejection? because I felt that pain and I know how hard it is to bear that pain and I want to tell all the persons who are feeling this pain that it is inevitable to reject the pain of rejection and to subdue the pain of rejection you will have to move on, you would have to trust another individual for your survival and that is the easiest way to subdue that pain.
I would like to end by saying there is always light after darkness and to feel the contentment first you have to know how misery feels and to get feel the happiness of being accepted first you have to feel the pain of being rejected.
